Hadera City Council Welcomes Rabbi Israel Yair Avitan as New Member

The Hadera City Council approved the resignation of council member Moshe Almaliach from the "The Faithful Camp" faction and officially welcomed Rabbi Israel Yair Avitan as his replacement. Almaliach, who currently serves as chairman of the Hadera Chevra Kadisha, concluded his term after contributing to municipal activities and council work for the benefit of Hadera residents.

Rabbi Avitan, an educator and rabbi at the Olga Hesder Yeshiva, leads programs preparing students for meaningful IDF service and educational initiatives. He served as an armored corps soldier in both regular and reserve IDF service, is a disabled IDF veteran, and a member of the Disabled IDF Veterans Organization.

Almaliach expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the city and emphasized unity and cooperation as keys to Hadera's continued success. Rabbi Avitan pledged to act with a strong sense of mission and responsibility, aiming to promote the city, foster unity, and strengthen Jewish identity. He highlighted his background in religious Zionism and social activism in the Olga neighborhood.

Hadera Mayor Nir Ben Haim thanked Almaliach for his contributions and wished him success in his role as chairman of Chevra Kadisha. He also welcomed Rabbi Avitan and wished him success in his public service for the residents of Hadera.
