Radio Host Natan Zehavi Wins Major Lawsuit Against 103FM, Awarded Nearly 900,000 Shekels

Natan Zehavi, a radio host, won a significant legal victory against 103FM radio station after the District Court ruled that his removal from the airwaves was unlawful and breached his employment contract. The court ordered the station to pay Zehavi approximately 900,000 shekels in compensation.

The dispute arose following a controversial monologue by Zehavi in late 2022, during which he sharply criticized religious and ultra-Orthodox public representatives. He compared the difficult conditions of needy elderly people to calls for strengthening religious symbols and traditions. Zehavi's remarks included telling listeners to reject commandments such as challah, modesty, and candle lighting, and he made a particularly harsh comment expressing that he would be glad if some public representatives tied tefillin around their necks and hanged themselves.

These statements sparked widespread public outrage, leading the station's management to suspend Zehavi from broadcasting. However, the court found that the suspension process was conducted illegally and not in accordance with the signed agreement between Zehavi and the station. As a result, the court ruled in favor of Zehavi and awarded him substantial financial damages.
