Iconic Tel Aviv Cafe Nona Revamps Menu After 27 Years While Keeping Its Famous Schnitzel

The story · English

Cafe Nona, a legendary Tel Aviv eatery on Ibn Gvirol Street, is marking 27 years since its opening by launching a completely revamped menu. Established in 1996, the cafe has become a staple of the city’s nightlife and dining scene, known for its unique atmosphere and a sense of family among staff and patrons. The venue gained popularity partly due to its longstanding 1+1 alcohol deal available all day, every day, which has now been replaced by a 40% discount on all drinks.

Despite the menu overhaul, Cafe Nona has retained its iconic schnitzel, a large and crispy dish made with a special blend of four types of breadcrumbs, including one imported exclusively for the recipe. Priced at 78 shekels and served with mashed potatoes and coleslaw, the schnitzel remains a crowd favorite.

The new menu introduces a variety of offerings including all-day breakfasts, elaborate sandwiches, fresh salads, hearty main courses, desserts, and an expanded selection of alcoholic beverages. Notable dishes include stuffed peppers with rice (62 shekels), beef sausages with potatoes (78 shekels), and roasted artichoke with Greek yogurt (54 shekels). Other highlights are eggs Benedict, avocado bruschetta, shakshuka served 24/7, a rich four-cheese toast, entrecote sandwiches, steak and eggs, lasagna Bolognese, and spiced chicken curry.

Cafe Nona continues to operate 24/7, surviving nearly a decade marked by a global pandemic, political upheaval, military operations, and regional tensions. It remains a vibrant spot for nightlife with lively music, affordable drinks, and a welcoming crowd. The cafe’s enduring presence and recent menu transformation underscore its commitment to evolving while preserving its beloved traditions.
