The story · English

The Jerusalem Magistrate's Court approved a police request to extend the detention of a 58-year-old Haredi journalist from Kiryat Yearim suspected of possessing illegal materials involving minors. The journalist was arrested on Monday by the Jerusalem District Youth Exposure Unit following information received by the police. During the arrest, officers executed a search warrant at his home, seizing a laptop and a mobile phone, which are now undergoing digital forensic analysis at police laboratories.

The court imposed a gag order preventing the publication of the suspect's identity or any identifying details until the severity of the charges is clarified. The extension of the detention was granted to allow the ongoing investigation by the Jerusalem District Police's National Fraud Unit to continue. The suspect is being questioned on suspicion of holding prohibited materials, with another court hearing scheduled for Friday to review the case further.
