Jerusalem Court Releases Suspect Seen Brandishing Gun at Haredi Protesters to House Arrest
The Jerusalem Magistrate's Court ordered the suspect, who was filmed yesterday pulling out a gun toward Haredi protesters during the Road 1 blockades, released to house arrest. The case stems from the disruptions on Highway 1, where the suspect was recorded threatening demonstrators amid the protests.
Judge Ariel Erlich sharply criticized police conduct in his ruling, saying the alleged offense occurred "in a situation of tension and panic, when law enforcement authorities are not providing a response." He added that the blockade itself created a serious hazard, and that it was, by itself, highly dangerous to the public.
The court's decision came a day after the incident was documented, and the suspect will now remain under house arrest while proceedings continue.
