Yeshiva Students Win National AI Competition with Tool That Simplifies Talmud Study

The story · English

Students from the Torah B’Noam yeshiva in Elad took first place in the Education Ministry’s national entrepreneurship competition, “Dream Smart 2,” after developing an artificial intelligence system that turns complex Talmudic discussions into visual charts and presentations. The project beat dozens of entries from across Israel and won the Haredi district AI competition run by the ministry.

The team came from the yeshiva’s communications and technology track, which operates under the Perach Israel network. The system analyzes Talmud text and automatically converts it into visual slides and diagrams, with the goal of helping students understand the internal logic and flow of a sugya, a Talmudic topic, while preserving traditional study methods.

Yeshiva officials said the project reflects a central challenge in yeshiva learning, making difficult textual arguments clearer without changing the way the material is studied. They described the win as recognition of the students’ ability to combine Torah study with entrepreneurship and technological innovation.

Torah B’Noam was founded by Perach Israel to provide a Torah framework with both religious studies and educational and professional support. Perach Israel chief executive Rabbi Moshe Stein praised the students, saying the victory resulted from “ongoing investment in excellence, faith in the students and giving them tools that will allow each one to realize his potential.”
