IDF Confirms Awareness of Deadly Palestinian Village Tour Hours Before Attack

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) acknowledged on Sunday evening that it was aware hours in advance of a tour passing through the Palestinian village of Tal on Friday, which ended in a deadly attack. According to a report by Doron Kadosh on Galei Tzahal, the military knew about the excursion before it began but did not intervene to prevent or secure it.

The IDF spokesperson confirmed that information about the tour was received several hours prior to its departure. However, the army emphasized that the tour was neither approved nor coordinated through the required security channels. As a result, it did not receive any official security arrangements or protection.

The IDF did not provide an explanation for why commanders failed to act despite having prior knowledge of the tour. The military stated that findings related to the incident will be transparently presented to the bereaved families. This admission marks a reversal from earlier statements that suggested the tour was unknown to the army beforehand.
