Israeli Jewish Congress President Meets Iranian Crown Prince to Discuss Future Diplomatic Ties

In a rare meeting in Paris on Sunday, Sylvan Adams, President of the World Jewish Congress in Israel, met with Iranian Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi, who is in exile. The two discussed visions for a free and democratic Iran, restoration of relations between the Iranian and Jewish peoples, and the potential renewal of diplomatic ties between Israel and Iran following a regime change.

Adams emphasized the long-standing suffering of the Iranian people and expressed hope for their imminent liberation, stating, "The entire Jewish people support your vision for a free, pluralistic, representative, and democratic Iran, and we will stand shoulder to shoulder with you." Pahlavi highlighted the historical biblical connection between Iran and Israel and noted the recent sacrifices of thousands of Iranians who died for freedom, not for geopolitical interests like the Strait of Hormuz or nuclear agreements.

Looking ahead, Pahlavi invited Adams to visit Tehran to explore locations for future embassies of both countries. In a symbolic gesture, Adams presented Pahlavi with two mezuzahs made from Jerusalem stone, crafted by an Israeli scribe of Iranian descent. One mezuzah is intended for the future Israeli embassy in Tehran, and the other for the Iranian embassy in Jerusalem. Adams, a real estate professional, expressed his hope to soon find a property in Tehran for the Israeli embassy.

The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to continue dialogue and efforts to strengthen ties between the Iranian and Jewish peoples, aiming for a new era of peace, cooperation, and prosperity once Iran becomes free and democratic and diplomatic relations with Israel are restored.
