Iran's President Offers Olive Branch to US, Cites Iranian Influence

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has extended a conciliatory message to the United States, stating that Tehran is prepared to reciprocate if Washington returns to its commitments under a memorandum of understanding between the two nations. Pezeshkian emphasized that "sustainable security is not achieved through confrontation, but through mutual trust, respect for the sovereignty of countries, and non-interference in their affairs." He indicated that Iran views a mutual return to basic commitments as a potential path forward with the U.S.

However, alongside this conciliatory tone, the Iranian president also delivered a strong message directed at Washington and Jerusalem. Pezeshkian claimed that Iran was instrumental in forcing the United States and Israel to cease fire and end "aggression" during what he termed the "40-day war." He further stated that the U.S. violation of commitments was met with a "proportionate" Iranian response, but reiterated that if the American administration adheres to the agreed-upon framework, Iran will act accordingly and take a similar step.
