Shon Paro wins by knockout, says he broke his right hand on the finishing punch

Israeli fighter Shon Paro and Nili Block both scored knockout wins Friday morning at event 104 of Peru’s FFC organization. Paro improved his professional record to 8-1, while Block opened her MMA career with a victory in her debut bout.

After the fights, both spoke with Sport Channel. Paro said the punch that ended his fight against Danilson Ribeiro also injured him, and that the decisive blow broke his right hand, likely meaning he will need surgery.

Paro said one of his goals was to beat Ribeiro by knockout with his right hand, and that he did exactly that. He added that his phone wallpaper for the past three weeks had read, “I will win by knockout with my right hand.” He described the win as “amazing,” thanked the crowd for its support, said he had promised he would do it, and asked for the organization’s champion as his next opponent. “As soon as I recover, my goal is to win the title in this organization. I am more than worthy of it,” he said.

Block also said she was happy with how she finished the fight, saying, “That is exactly how I wanted to end the fight. In my style.” She said her motto was to “stay Nili Block,” while still having more tools available if needed. Block also thanked the Israeli fans in the crowd, saying their support always warms her heart, and said her next planned bout is a Muay Thai fight at GFN in Menora on July 27.
