Moman Jaber Combines Quran Recitation, Wedding Singing, and Therapy for Special Needs Children
Moman Jaber, raised in a religious Muslim home where he began reading the Quran as a child, has developed a unique career blending traditional Arabic music with physiotherapy for children with special needs. Despite initial opposition from his community, who viewed singing as forbidden, Jaber embraced his musical talent as a divine gift. He grew up listening to iconic Arabic singers like Umm Kulthum and Abdel Wahab, and today performs at Israeli weddings, bringing classical and folk Arabic music to diverse audiences.
Jaber also works as a physiotherapist specializing in child development, where he discovered that music is his most powerful therapeutic tool. He explained that singing personalized songs to children on the autism spectrum or with special needs helps them engage physically and mentally, often transforming their mood and encouraging movement. "When I sing their name in a melody and turn it into a play, the child laughs and forgets their distress," he said.
He views music as a bridge connecting cultures and unlocking children's potential. Jaber encourages children to embrace their uniqueness and believe in themselves, a message he also shares with the younger version of himself.
