Israel's Health Ministry Launches Major Food Business Regulation Reform

Israel's Health Minister, Haim Katz, has signed new regulations that fundamentally change the regulatory framework for food establishments across the country. The reform introduces significant relaxations in infrastructure, construction, and operational requirements for restaurants, cafes, hotels, and event halls. Key changes include removing the minimum area requirement for dining rooms, reducing the minimum kitchen size, and expanding the use of galleries within these venues. These adjustments aim to reduce construction, rental, and municipal tax costs, potentially saving billions of shekels in the coming years and facilitating the opening of new businesses. The new regulations took effect immediately and impact approximately 23,500 food establishments operating in Israel.
