Petah Tikva Deputy Mayor Tzvika Vishnegrad Considers Running in Religious Zionism Primaries

Tzvika Vishnegrad, the deputy mayor of Petah Tikva, confirmed in an interview with Channel 7 that he is considering running in the upcoming primaries of the Religious Zionism party ahead of the next elections. Vishnegrad stated that he has not made a final decision yet, explaining, "I am considering, examining, thinking, consulting, and will make the decision in the coming days." He noted receiving numerous requests to submit his candidacy, which he views as a significant compliment and a sign of trust in his public work over recent years.

Vishnegrad expressed hope that the Religious Zionism party will strengthen its position in the upcoming elections, allowing space for new candidates alongside current ministers and Knesset members who performed well in the last term. He emphasized his intention to represent local authorities and residents of central Israel, including cities such as Petah Tikva, Givat Shmuel, Or Yehuda, Bat Yam, and Rishon LeZion. Vishnegrad highlighted the absence of municipal representatives in the current Knesset faction and sees his potential candidacy as a way to bring their voice into national politics.

However, Channel 7 learned that senior party officials have recently advised Vishnegrad against running in the primaries, indicating internal resistance to his candidacy within the party leadership.
