Religious Zionism Party Offers Rabbi Abraham Zarviv Second Spot on Election List
The Religious Zionism party is expanding its ranks ahead of the upcoming elections by recruiting prominent figures from the field. According to journalist Amit Segal, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich recently met with Rabbi Abraham Zarviv, a rabbinical judge and reserve combat soldier, and offered him a high position on the party's Knesset list, likely the second spot.
Rabbi Zarviv is well-known to the public as a dayan in rabbinical courts and gained recognition during the recent war as a reserve fighter operating an armored D9 bulldozer. He became notable for his intensive efforts in demolishing extensive terror infrastructures on the Gaza and Lebanon fronts. Zarviv also had the honor of lighting a torch at the official Independence Day ceremony on Mount Herzl last year.
This offer to Rabbi Zarviv is part of a broader initiative by Smotrich to refresh and strengthen the party's list. Just weeks earlier, the party leader announced the reserved candidacy of Dr. Tzvika Mor, a leading figure in the Tikva Forum and father of captive survivor Eitan Mor, who is also expected to hold a central position on the Religious Zionism list.
In related commentary, Ahmad Tibi praised the choice of Rabbi Zarviv to light the torch as "the right decision." These moves reflect the party's strategy to bolster its appeal by including respected figures with both religious and military credentials.
