Religious Zionism Party Concludes Primaries With Smotrich Leading List
The Religious Zionism party has completed its internal primaries, with 170 out of 173 eligible voters participating. The party announced the final candidate list, led by party chairman and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich in the top spot. Following him are Orit Strook and Simcha Rothman, securing the second and third positions respectively. Other candidates include Zvi Sukkot, Ohad Tal, Omer Rahamim, Michal Waldiger, Shmuel Sasson, Tzvika Vishingrad, Itam Tam, and Natan Zaubman. Additionally, Tzvika Mor will join the list in a reserved spot, along with another candidate to be confirmed later.
Notably, three eligible voters abstained, including Knesset members Ofir Sofer and Moshe Solomon. Smotrich expressed confidence in the list, stating it will lead to victory in the upcoming 2026 elections. Party CEO Yehuda Wald congratulated all candidates and emphasized the demonstration of a vibrant democracy within the party, pledging continued leadership for the people of Israel, Torah, and the Land of Israel.
