State Workers Union Bans Tax Authority Staff From Entering Bnei Brak After Violent Attacks

Following violent assaults on Tax Authority employees in the Kiryat Vizhnitz neighborhood of Bnei Brak by ultra-Orthodox residents, the State Workers Union announced that its members will no longer enter the city for work purposes. This decision was communicated by Ophir Elkaly, chairman of the State Workers Union, in a letter to Shai Aharonovitch, director of the Tax Authority. Elkaly emphasized that this was not an isolated incident but the second recent attack on Tax Authority workers in Bnei Brak, highlighting a continuous security risk that requires immediate attention. Due to concerns for the safety and lives of the employees, the union decided to prohibit Tax Authority staff from entering Bnei Brak to provide services or carry out fieldwork.
