Tax Inspectors Attacked by Mob During Routine Check in Bnei Brak

A routine tax inspection in the Kiryat Vizhnitz neighborhood of Bnei Brak escalated into a violent confrontation on Wednesday. A team from the Israeli Tax Authority was assaulted by a large crowd who threw eggs and various objects at them. The situation quickly intensified as hundreds of youths and children gathered, shouting hostile slogans against the inspectors.

Due to the rapid escalation and concerns for the inspectors' safety, police forces were urgently dispatched to the scene. The officers intervened decisively to extract the tax officials from the hostile environment, successfully evacuating them without injury. Officials from the Tax Authority described the incident as extremely serious, noting it follows a series of previous attacks on inspectors performing their duties.

Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich strongly condemned the violence, labeling the attackers as lawless bullies. He emphasized that such aggression against law enforcement personnel carrying out their professional responsibilities is unacceptable. Smotrich expressed full support for the Tax Authority employees and demanded that the Israeli Police thoroughly prosecute those responsible for the attack.
