Tax Authority Workers Suspended From Serving Bnei Brak Over Safety Concerns

The State Employees Union announced on Sunday that it will not send Tax Authority workers to Bnei Brak due to recent assaults on employees and concerns for their safety. This suspension affects both public service and field operations in the city. The union cited a "real fear for the physical safety and security" of Tax Authority staff required to work in Bnei Brak. The decision is temporary and will remain in effect until adequate security guarantees are provided.

This move aligns with the position of Tax Authority Director Shai Aharonovitch, who plans to meet with Bnei Brak's mayor to negotiate terms that would allow employees to safely resume their duties. Central to the dispute is the demand that Tax Authority workers be able to perform their roles without exposure to violence or risk. No date has been set for resuming activity, pending solutions and commitments to protect staff.

Until a resolution is reached, the union maintains its stance that no Tax Authority employees will be dispatched to Bnei Brak.
