State Workers Union Confirms Tax Authority Staff Will Not Return to Bnei Brak Without Security Guarantees
Ophir Elkala'i, chairman of the State Workers Union, has reiterated that tax authority employees will not resume work in Bnei Brak until their safety is assured. This statement follows a meeting on Sunday between Bnei Brak Mayor Hanoch Zeibert and Tax Authority Director Shai Aharonovitch, which the union says does not change the workers' stance. Elkala'i emphasized that the lives of tax workers are not expendable and that no dialogue with employee representatives took place regarding security concerns. He warned that future attacks could still occur, underscoring the union's refusal to allow staff to return without clear protective measures. Despite the coordinated announcement from the city and tax authority, the union's position remains firm: employees will not return to Bnei Brak until their safety is guaranteed.
