Windows Fast Startup Feature Can Cause PC Issues and Should Be Disabled on SSDs

Many Windows users may be unaware that their computer does not fully shut down when they press the power off button due to a built-in feature called Fast Startup. This feature speeds up boot time by saving the system state to a temporary file instead of completely closing all programs and clearing memory. However, this hybrid shutdown can cause various problems, including the computer turning on by itself at night, failure to properly install critical updates and drivers, and difficulty accessing the BIOS menu during startup.

Fast Startup can also prevent simple troubleshooting steps from working because a reboot reloads the saved, potentially corrupted system state rather than performing a clean start.
