Limor and David Kleinman Revolutionize Intimacy in Religious Israeli Communities

About a decade ago, Limor Kleinman, then volunteering as a mikveh attendant, discovered a significant gap between the sexual education she received in a religious girls' school and the real experiences of religious women. Now a certified sex counselor and mother of four, Limor and her husband David run "Ve'ahavtem," an online store selling approved intimacy products discreetly to the religious community, including ultra-Orthodox groups.

Limor recalls that many women viewed marital intimacy as a burdensome obligation rather than a joyful mitzvah, often due to misconceptions about consent and pleasure. She and David, a religious educator and synagogue gabbai, sought rabbinical approval before launching their business, receiving support from Rabbi Rafi Ostrof of the Gush Etzion Religious Council. Limor emphasizes that Jewish law forbids sexual relations without full consent, countering harmful myths. The couple recently introduced a new line inspired by BDSM principles, rebranded as "trust and submission," to enhance intimacy within halachic boundaries.

David, who also teaches sexuality in his military reserve unit, notes a shift in attitudes post-October 7 conflict, with soldiers seeking healthier ways to discuss sexuality. The Kleinmans have created a new respectful language around intimacy, avoiding vulgarity. Their outreach extends even to closed Hasidic communities like Satmar and Gur, and secular customers appreciate the respectful approach.
