IDF Brigadier General Elad Tzuri Assumes Command of 99th Division Amid Ongoing Conflict

Brigadier General Elad Tzuri officially took command of the IDF's 99th Division, known as the "Lightning" Division, replacing Brigadier General Yoav Broner, who led the division for the past two years. The change of command ceremony was held at the Flag Memorial in Netiv HaAsara and was attended by Central Command Chief Major General Avi Blot, commanders, soldiers, and family members.

Major General Avi Blot praised the outgoing commander Broner for his leadership during intense fighting in the Gaza Strip, highlighting the division's significant achievements without respite. Blot emphasized the responsibility to provide security to all Israeli citizens and expressed full confidence in Tzuri, whom he called "a hero of the War of Independence," to lead the division to further successes.

Brigadier General Yoav Broner reflected on the 99th Division as a symbol of dedication and the unique bond between regular and reserve forces. He stressed the ongoing duty to prevail in the conflict and wished his successor success in reaching new heights.

Incoming commander Brigadier General Elad Tzuri stated that the IDF is engaged in a just war to eliminate threats on all fronts, ensuring safe and prosperous lives for Israelis. He thanked Broner for his leadership and cooperation during the war and noted that the local communities and spirit of action in the area are sources of Israel's strength.
