West Bank Border Police Commander Highlights Farms as Force Multipliers in Security Strategy

At the inaugural Security Forum organized by the Farms Association, West Bank Border Police Commander Brigadier General Nisso Guetta outlined significant operational adjustments made in response to the expansion of settlements and farms in the region. Guetta announced reinforcements in Border Police deployments, including the addition of new battalions and the planned establishment of another battalion in the Jordan Valley, with preparations starting in the upcoming recruitment cycle and the first company expected to deploy by November.

Guetta emphasized the Border Police's rapid response capability, describing the battalions as flexible reinforcement units that commanders can deploy as needed. He stressed the importance of direct relationships between commanders and farm owners to ensure swift and effective reactions to incidents. The commander also highlighted extensive cooperation among all security and emergency agencies operating in Judea and Samaria, including the Israel Police, IDF, fire and rescue services, Magen David Adom, and others, with the forum serving as a key platform for enhancing coordination.

Additionally, Guetta noted the active volunteer framework within the Border Police, particularly in the Jordan Valley, where farm owners participate as volunteers. Plans are underway to expand this model to other areas such as Binyamin, Samaria, and southern Mount Hebron through joint patrols and increased volunteer involvement to strengthen regional defense.

The Farms Association described the forum as a historic step in bolstering security and territorial hold, bringing together dozens of senior officials from the security establishment, emergency services, government, and settlement sectors. Participants included Central Command Chief Avi Blot, commanders from the IDF, police, Border Police, fire and rescue, Magen David Adom, the National Security Council, Settlement Division, and various settlement and land coordinators. The forum underscored the recognition among decision-makers that shepherds and farmers on the ground constitute the true frontline defense in open areas.
