The story · English

Irit Frank has been elected chairperson of the Israel Artists Association (AMI), which represents stage and screen artists across Israel since 1979. She replaces outgoing chair Yona Elian-Keshet. Frank will be supported by deputies Ron Gang, a conductor and musical director, and Maayan Segal, an actress and singer. The new board includes notable figures such as musician Moti Dichna, actor and musician Uri Banai, choreographer and dancer Naomi Katz, director Uri Drori, choreographer Bat Chen Hoverdi-Kashi, musician Ilan Sass, filmmaker Roni Kidar, and actress and writer Yehli Handros-Dagmi.

Frank led the Simta Theater in Jaffa for over 20 years until February 2024. She is a graduate of Telma Yellin Arts School and Beit Zvi School of Acting, with acting credits in films and plays including "Bagrut Exam" alongside Dan Toren, "Life According to Agfa," "Banot," and "The Silver Tray." She also served as CEO of the Tel Aviv People's University.

AMI is a public nonprofit established to represent performing artists in Israel, including actors, singers, dancers, comedians, voice actors, magicians, and others. The association advocates for artists' professional and economic rights, improves employment conditions, represents artists before government and cultural bodies, and provides aid through welfare and emergency funds. It also promotes cultural legislation, initiates professional and public projects, and maintains international artist union relations. Past chairs include actor Dudu Dotan and producer Yankale Mendel.

Frank stated, "After years of directing and managing theater, experiencing the field firsthand, I am proud and approach this mission with deep commitment. My goal is to strengthen AMI as a shared home for all artists and to engage the younger generation in leading roles." AMI CEO Yossi Zinger expressed confidence that the new leadership will achieve significant accomplishments and position the association at the heart of Israel's cultural scene.
