Teen Hospitalized After Finding Hard Pieces in Chips Bought in Ariel Store

A 15-year-old girl from the settlement of Yakir was taken to the emergency room at Beilinson Hospital after allegedly discovering hard, glass-like pieces inside a bag of potato chips purchased at a Rami Levy branch in Ariel. The girl said the bag was completely sealed when it arrived at her home. She described opening the multi-pack, eating some chips, and then feeling something hard and strange. Upon closer inspection, she realized she was eating pieces resembling glass, coated with chip flakes, making them difficult to notice. She warned about the potential danger, especially to young children.

The girl's mother reported that they went to Beilinson Hospital's emergency room, where X-rays and an endoscopy were performed, revealing no foreign objects. However, the girl still experiences pain and scratches in her throat. After the incident was reported to the media, Strauss company representatives contacted the mother and stated they would collect the product for examination. The company suspects the pieces are not glass but hardened starch, though they acknowledge this could still pose a risk if swallowed or chewed.

The teenager emphasized the danger, saying that even if the pieces are just hardened starch, their glass-like appearance and texture make them hazardous. Strauss confirmed they are retrieving the sample for testing to determine the exact nature of the foreign material.
