This delay follows a request by Sara Netanyahu for lifetime security protection for herself and her children, regardless of election outcomes.
The professional team from Unit 730, responsible for protecting public figures, concluded that the threat level against Avner and Yair Netanyahu does not justify permanent, close security over many years. They recommended that security measures be adjusted based on changing threat assessments rather than fixed arrangements.
After the assessment was submitted to the Shin Bet chief's office, Zini has not signed it or forwarded it for discussion in the ministerial committee. In a conversation with Zini, Sara Netanyahu insisted on establishing lifelong security now, independent of which government forms in the future.
