Netanyahu Has Lowest Support from Israeli Accounts on X Among Party Leaders Ahead of Elections

A recent analysis by the data firm Skopar and Gil Feldman from the "Current Situation" project reveals that among party leaders competing in the upcoming Israeli elections, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu receives the lowest level of support from Israeli accounts on the social media platform X. Only 28.5 percent of accounts sharing Netanyahu's content are Israeli, compared to over 90 percent for Gadi Eizenkot and 87.6 percent for Yair Golan.

The study also found that just 6.8 percent of Netanyahu's sharers have Hebrew usernames, significantly lower than the approximately 30 percent for Bezalel Smotrich and 26 percent for Gadi Eizenkot. Additionally, Netanyahu's posts attract the highest proportion of accounts with numeric strings in their usernames, 34.8 percent, suggesting many may be automated or bot accounts. This contrasts with 20 percent for Yair Golan and 21.7 percent for Gadi Eizenkot.

Moreover, 11.3 percent of accounts sharing Netanyahu's posts were newly created in recent months, a rate much higher than the 2.8 percent for Eizenkot and 3.2 percent for Golan. Gil Feldman commented that this pattern indicates a coordinated effort to artificially boost Netanyahu's online support, stating, "Someone is operating the machine that promotes these posts and generates fake support for the man on the network."
