Israel Expands AI-Powered Personalized English Learning to Lead OECD Education Rankings

Andreas Schleicher, head of education and skills at the OECD, praised Israel's expansion of its AI-based personalized English learning program to 180 additional middle schools. This move is expected to position Israel among the leading OECD countries in AI-driven personalized learning. Schleicher highlighted that while Israel ranked moderately in AI integration in classrooms in the 2024 TALIS survey, the recent program expansion demonstrates a strong commitment to innovative educational approaches.

The program, known as "720," will now be implemented in approximately 900 schools for students in grades 7 and 8, significantly broadening the reach of AI-assisted English learning. Schleicher expressed his admiration for the program during the EducAItion 2026 conference in Jerusalem and suggested other countries could learn from Israel's example. He also hopes the initiative will be featured in the next OECD digital education report.

Israeli Education Minister Yoav Kish stated that the expansion of the 720 program places Israel at the forefront of global innovation in education. He emphasized that personalized AI learning helps reduce educational gaps and prepares students for the evolving demands of the 21st century. This initiative reflects Israel's strategic focus on integrating advanced technology into its education system to enhance learning outcomes.
