LeBron James has yet to decide where he will play in the upcoming NBA season, with speculation intensifying in the United States. Journalist Scoop B Robinson reported on July 12, 2026, that Philadelphia is a serious contender, but significant professional concerns remain about pairing LeBron with Joel Embiid. Sources close to the Sixers indicate that if they want to sign LeBron, playing alongside Embiid is off the table due to worries about Embiid's long-term health and mobility, especially considering the demands of a championship run. The two stars have exchanged public jabs, and Philadelphia might consider trading Embiid to accommodate LeBron. Robinson suggested possible trades sending Embiid to Washington for Anthony Davis, a close friend of LeBron, or to Houston for Alperen Sengun and Fred VanVleet.

Meanwhile, Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Kenny Atkinson confirmed the team is actively pursuing LeBron, calling it an exciting opportunity to acquire "the greatest player of all time." Atkinson hinted that family considerations will influence LeBron's decision but expressed optimism about the possibility of his return to Ohio. Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors also revealed he tried to persuade LeBron during a recent meeting, hoping to influence his choice, though he acknowledged no decision has been made yet.

Robinson expects LeBron to announce his official decision within the coming week, possibly during a live episode of "The Shop" in New York, a show he co-produces with Maverick Carter. The announcement is anticipated to be a major event, befitting LeBron's stature. No official responses have been released by the teams or players involved as the free agency drama unfolds.
