Two winners from northern Israel recently collected their shares of the first prize from the July 4 lottery draw, each receiving 12.5 million shekels. One winner is a woman in her late 30s at a career crossroads, while the other winners are a couple of pensioners in their 70s who have long dreamed of moving closer to their grandchildren.
The pensioner husband, who has played the lottery for years using the same numbers, usually participates only when the prize amounts are large. After checking the results on his computer the morning after the draw, he realized they had won big and called his wife with the news. Initially, she thought the call was about an imminent birth of a grandchild. Only after seeing the official confirmation on the lottery app did she grasp the significance. Their children also verified the numbers, and the couple has since been excited and sleepless. The couple plans to fulfill a long-held dream of relocating near their extended family, a wish their grandchildren had expressed for years.
The other winner, a woman in her late 30s, participates in the lottery occasionally with the same personal numbers. On the night of the draw, she scanned her ticket and was initially in disbelief. She called her husband, who was calmer and reassured her. They decided to keep the news private. The win comes at a pivotal moment in her career, giving her the financial freedom to pause and consider her next steps. She expressed gratitude and said she now plans to truly enjoy life. The pensioner winner emphasized that family remains the most important thing.
Both winners visited the lottery organization to claim their prizes and shared their stories of surprise and hope for the future.
