IDF Presents Operational Inquiry to Family of Fallen Golani Fighter 20 Months After Death in Lebanon

Nearly 20 months after Golani Brigade soldier Sergeant Gur Kehati was killed in Lebanon, the Israel Defense Forces presented the operational inquiry into the circumstances of his death to his family. Kehati's grandfather, Asaf Agmon, revealed that the report was shown to the family last Friday only after they threatened to petition the High Court of Justice. Agmon sharply criticized the IDF's handling of the case and the inquiry's conclusions, stating, "Our darkest fears have been confirmed. It is absolutely clear from the commanders' statements that there was no operational necessity for Ze'ev (Z'avo) Hanokh Erlich to join the mission. Everything Yoav Yerum did was unauthorized and without authority." The family’s demand for transparency and accountability highlights ongoing concerns about the military’s decision-making and command during the operation that led to Kehati’s death.
