Israeli footballer Anan Halaily's transfer to Inter Milan remains pending due to medical examinations. Although all terms were agreed upon last Thursday and Halaily was expected to be officially introduced as Inter's new player, the final step involves passing a series of cardiological tests mandated by the Italian Olympic Committee. These tests are more stringent than usual and are conducted independently from the club's medical team.
Halaily underwent initial medical tests over the weekend, which were successful, but the Italian Olympic Committee requested an additional cardiology examination at a different institute. This final test is scheduled for Monday. If Halaily passes, he will sign with Inter Milan; if not, he will be barred from signing with any other Italian club.
The heightened cardiac protocols in Italy have become more common since the COVID-19 pandemic, with about one in three or four players showing findings that require further investigation. While the tests are routine, the strict Italian standards mean the final approval is crucial. Meanwhile, several English clubs are monitoring Halaily's situation closely, hoping to capitalize if the transfer to Inter falls through.
Until the final test results are confirmed, the outcome of Halaily's transfer remains uncertain.
