Ryanair Passenger Nearly Pulled Out After Window Detaches Mid-Flight Over North Macedonia

A Ryanair flight from Thessaloniki, Greece, to Memmingen, Germany, experienced a terrifying incident on July 10 when a passenger window detached mid-flight. The event occurred shortly after takeoff while the plane was flying over northern North Macedonia. A Serbian tourist sitting near the window was nearly sucked out but was saved by fellow passengers who pulled him back inside. The passenger had not removed his seatbelt, which helped prevent a full ejection.

Passengers described hearing a loud noise like a tire bursting, followed by a rapid cabin pressure drop and oxygen masks deploying. One witness recalled the strong smell and screams onboard, initially fearing an emergency door had been opened. The injured passenger was hospitalized with minor abrasions and was reported in good condition.

Greek media reported that debris from one of the aircraft's engines struck the window, causing it to break away. Ryanair confirmed the plane returned safely to Thessaloniki shortly after the incident, and passengers were transferred to a replacement aircraft to continue to Germany. The airline emphasized the flight landed normally without further issues.
