Passenger Nearly Sucked Out of Broken Window on Ryanair Flight from Greece to Germany

A dramatic incident occurred on a Ryanair flight from Thessaloniki, Greece, to Memmingen, Germany, on Friday morning when a window shattered mid-flight, causing a sudden cabin pressure drop. The 61-year-old Serbian passenger seated next to the broken window was nearly sucked out of the aircraft. His wife held onto him tightly by the legs, and with the help of other passengers, they managed to pull him back inside the plane.

The event took place over North Macedonia’s airspace and was reportedly caused by debris detaching from the engine and striking the window. Oxygen masks deployed immediately after the pressure drop, and passengers described hearing a loud noise similar to a tire bursting. One passenger told AFP that there were screams and a sharp smell in the cabin.

The man, who remained buckled in his seatbelt throughout the ordeal, was later hospitalized with friction burns but is in stable condition. Eyewitnesses emphasized the quick response of the wife and fellow travelers in preventing a fatal outcome. The incident highlights the dangers of sudden decompression and the importance of safety protocols during flight emergencies.
