Israeli winger Anan Halili has agreed to terms with Italian Serie A champions Inter Milan, marking a historic transfer for an Israeli player. The 21-year-old, who will turn 22 in September, is set to join Inter after two successful seasons with Belgian club Union Saint-Gilloise. Inter will pay a transfer fee of 25 million euros, which will break the record for the highest transfer fee ever paid for an Israeli footballer.
Halili's move to Inter comes after he was previously linked with Napoli, Inter's rival. He is expected to fill the role of right-back substitute for the veteran Dutch international Denzel Dumfries, who recently signed with Real Madrid. Halili has gained significant experience, including winning a surprising Belgian league title with Union Saint-Gilloise and competing in the UEFA Champions League.
The transfer also benefits Halili's former club, Maccabi Haifa, which will receive approximately 2.5 million euros from the deal. Halili's rise began with a breakthrough performance at the U-20 World Cup in Argentina three years ago, followed by an impressive season at Maccabi Haifa and strong showings in Belgium. This move represents the biggest challenge of his career as he steps into one of Europe's top leagues.
