Bonnie Tyler, the iconic Welsh singer known for hits like "Total Eclipse of the Heart," passed away at the age of 75. Her family and team announced her death on July 9, 2026, stating she died in a hospital in Portugal where she had been hospitalized for several months due to a serious illness. In May, Tyler underwent emergency intestinal surgery and was placed in an induced coma. Although she awoke from the coma last month, her condition remained critical, and she continued to receive intensive care. Born Gaynor Hopkins in South Wales, Tyler rose to fame in the late 1970s with "It's a Heartache" and achieved international stardom in 1983 with "Total Eclipse of the Heart," which topped charts in both the UK and the US.

She also gained massive success with "Holding Out for a Hero," featured in the film Footloose and later in Shrek 2.
