Electric Company Crew Halts Repairs After Large Viper Spotted on Power Lines in Rehovot

On Monday in Rehovot, a crew from the Israeli Electric Company was forced to stop repair work after spotting a large viper snake crawling on the power lines. The sighting immediately halted the operation as per safety protocols. The worker who was on the elevated platform safely descended to the ground without injury. A snake catcher was called to the scene to safely remove the snake, allowing the crew to resume their work.

Boris Banderski, an Electric Company employee present at the scene, noted that while he has encountered snakes during his years of work, this was the first time he saw such a large snake crawling on power cables. The company reminded that during the summer months, when temperatures rise, snake activity increases, requiring field teams to exercise heightened caution when working in open areas near infrastructure.

The incident highlights the challenges faced by utility workers in maintaining safety while performing essential repairs, especially in warmer seasons when wildlife encounters become more frequent.
