Former MK Uzi Dayan Meets Netanyahu, Sparking Political Comeback Speculation

Former Knesset member Uzi Dayan recently met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, raising questions about a potential return to politics. Dayan has a history of involvement with the Likud party, having first announced his candidacy in the January 2019 primaries for the 21st Knesset elections. He secured the 35th spot on the Likud list, later moving up to 33rd, and was elected to the Knesset.

In subsequent elections, Dayan's position on the Likud list fluctuated: he was placed 36th for the 22nd Knesset elections but did not win a seat, then again 36th for the 23rd Knesset and was elected. For the 24th Knesset, he was promoted to 32nd but failed to enter the Knesset, and in the 25th Knesset primaries, he ranked 50th and was not elected.

The recent meeting with Netanyahu has fueled speculation about Dayan's political future amid discussions that the party could secure between 8 to 13 seats in upcoming elections, highlighting the significance of internal party dynamics and candidate placements.
