Topaz Luk, a senior adviser to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, said in a podcast interview with The Bulldog that Netanyahu is not considering leaving politics and is preparing for the next election. Luk said the prime minister intends to run again and, as he put it, to win. He added that contrary to published reports, Netanyahu is not thinking about retiring from public life and remains focused on his political future.
Luk also discussed his own career, saying he began at the IDF Spokesperson's Unit working in new media before moving to the Prime Minister's Office in 2014. He said Netanyahu had already understood then the growing importance of social media as a way to communicate directly with the public, without relying on traditional media outlets.
Speaking about more than a decade working alongside Netanyahu, Luk said the prime minister listens to professionals, reviews data, and makes decisions only after in-depth discussion. He described Netanyahu as an experienced leader who acts out of a sense of mission and focuses on managing state affairs.
Luk also sharply criticized Israeli media, arguing that much of what is presented to the public does not fully reflect reality. He urged the public to consume information from multiple sources, examine different interests, and think critically about coverage. He said social media has transformed politics and journalism, but has also increased polarization and reinforced echo chambers. Even so, he said Israeli society is less divided than it is sometimes portrayed. He concluded by saying many people avoid politics because of exposure, criticism, and the damage it can do to private life, and called for more people to enter public service.
