Gilad Bar Adon Appointed New CEO of Israel's Electric Grid Operator Noga
Gilad Bar Adon has been appointed as the new CEO of Noga, the Israeli government company responsible for managing the national electricity system, after a year and a half without a permanent CEO. Bar Adon was selected over three other finalists: Shiki Fisher, Tamir Hizmi, and Tzachi Shomron. He previously led Moriah, Jerusalem's development company, for seven years and has extensive experience in public housing and urban development, including serving as CEO of Perazot and as deputy CEO at Amidar.
Noga has been operating without a permanent CEO since December 2024, following the resignation of Shaul Goldstein amid conflicts with then-chairman Sami Turgeman. During this interim period, Shiki Fisher served as acting CEO but was ultimately not chosen for the permanent role.
Noga was established in 2018 after being spun off from the Israel Electric Corporation as part of electricity sector reforms. It manages Israel's electricity grid, overseeing electricity trading, system operation, and infrastructure development. While Noga sets infrastructure development goals, the Israel Electric Corporation executes the actual work.
Bar Adon's appointment marks a significant leadership change for Noga as it continues to manage the critical national electricity infrastructure. His background in managing large public companies and urban development projects positions him to lead the company through its ongoing responsibilities and challenges.
