Mass Shooting in Brooklyn Injures Eight Including Four Children During Independence Day

At least eight people, including four children, were injured in a mass shooting late Saturday night in the Coney Island neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York, according to the New York Police Department. The shooting occurred around 10:35 p.m. during Fourth of July celebrations that featured a fireworks display. All victims were transported to hospitals for medical treatment. The injured include a 37-year-old man, a 33-year-old man, a 25-year-old woman, a 14-year-old boy, and children aged 12, 7, and 6, all in stable condition. A 21-year-old woman was critically wounded.

Local media reported that a bag containing a firearm was found near the scene. A deli worker told the New York Post that police officers were seen running while carrying children, suggesting the possibility of multiple shooters, though the police have not confirmed this. The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.
