Palestinian Authority sources have confirmed to i24NEWS that suspicions regarding the transfer of funds from the PA to Joint List Chairman Ayman Odeh are not surprising to them. According to Arab affairs commentator Baruch Yedid, these sources claim that PA Chairman Abu Mazen supported Odeh's political activities and that funds were transferred to him to advance social, public, and political initiatives. The sources stated that the PA president is an "enthusiastic supporter of Ayman Odeh's political activities." They added that some funds originated from Palestinian businessmen living abroad, who were approached by Abu Mazen to support the Knesset member's work, with such requests continuing recently.
According to the same sources, another alleged source of funds for Odeh is the Palestinian National Fund. However, the fund's head, Dr. Ramzi Khoury, vehemently denied these allegations in a conversation with i24NEWS. Simultaneously, Israeli sources claimed that funds were indeed transferred in envelopes from suspicious sources, allegedly for political purposes. According to the report, Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara demanded evidence justifying an investigation into the three before giving her approval.
