A protest erupted outside an Andrea Bocelli concert in Jakarta, Indonesia, on Tuesday, November 3rd. Aggressive demonstrators breached security barriers and attempted to halt the performance due to the Italian tenor's perceived support for Israel, according to Channel 14. Security forces managed to disperse the protesters, and the concert proceeded as scheduled.

The demonstration was fueled by Bocelli's past expressions of support for Israel, including a performance in Tel Aviv attended by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Following the outbreak of hostilities, Bocelli met with a woman who had been held captive, who shared that she sang his songs daily to maintain hope. Moved by her story, Bocelli sent her a personal letter and invited her family to his concert at his expense. He also hosted another former hostage, Segev Kalfon, at his home in Miami, performing a song for him and expressing his pleasure in taking a photo with his guest.

Last month, the BDS movement in Jordan called for Bocelli's concert in Petra to be canceled, accusing the singer of supporting Israel and fundraising for its military, arguing that the historic site should not host an artist with such a stance.
