  • Gadi Eisenkot plans a Knesset committee to investigate the October 7 massacre via legislation.
  • The proposed inquiry commission will be established by Knesset law, not government decree.
  • Opposition parties will form committees to repeal judicial overhaul laws.
  • Urgent legislation will be advanced using the opposition's parliamentary majority.
  • Eisenkot aims to secure key Knesset positions before coalition talks.

Gadi Eisenkot, chairman of the Yesh Atid party, is preparing to take control of key Knesset committees and positions even before coalition formation talks begin. A primary initiative will be the establishment of a "Special Committee for Law and State Inquiry," designed to form a state commission of inquiry into the October 7 massacre. This commission would be established by legislation passed by the Knesset, rather than by government decision.

Simultaneously, leaders of the "Change Bloc" parties have resolved to establish six to eight special legislative amendment committees. These committees will focus on two main objectives: repealing legislation from the judicial overhaul and advancing urgent laws that can be passed with the parliamentary majority held by those opposing Prime Minister Netanyahu in the Knesset.
