Acrobatic Thief Caught on Camera Raiding Northern Gas Station

Police in northern Israel have arrested a 42-year-old man for a daring gas station convenience store burglary, which was captured on security footage. The incident occurred on October 30, 2026, in Kiryat Shmona, when the suspect approached a small convenience store window. Security footage shows the man inserting his upper body through the narrow opening, leaving his legs dangling outside, while he reached in to steal items. He managed to retrieve 58 boxes of cigarettes, valued at NIS 2,404, before escaping.

Investigators determined the break-in was well-planned, with the suspect conducting reconnaissance multiple times during the night to identify a weak point. He then exploited the small window for entry and exit.

Following a swift and extensive search by officers from the Northern District, the suspect, a resident of Ashkelon, was apprehended while in possession of the stolen goods. His arrest was extended periodically during the investigation.

On November 2, 2026, the police prosecution filed a serious indictment against him in the Kiryat Shmona Magistrate's Court, charging him with burglary and theft. The police emphasized their commitment to combating property crime and ensuring justice for offenders who threaten public safety.
