Israeli TV presenter Dana Grodsky, 41, shared an update on her Instagram account on Thursday from her hospital bed, detailing her experience before and after undergoing a preventive double mastectomy and reconstruction surgery. "I am writing to you from my hospital bed, already after the surgery which thankfully went successfully," Grodsky wrote. She expressed deep gratitude to her partner, restaurateur Assaf Liss, calling him her "best friend in the world" for his support and encouragement during this time.
The decision to undergo the surgery is part of a planned medical process Grodsky had previously disclosed to her followers. During her pregnancy with twins, a genetic test revealed she was a carrier of a BRCA1 gene mutation, significantly increasing her risk of developing breast and ovarian cancer. After revealing her carrier status publicly in early 2025, Grodsky first underwent a preventive removal of her ovaries and fallopian tubes. She had announced that she would later complete the procedure with a mastectomy and reconstruction.
This procedure is purely preventive, aimed at reducing future risks, and not a result of a cancer diagnosis. Grodsky has been supported throughout this journey by her partner of seven years, Assaf Liss. The couple, engaged in June 2019, are raising their twins, Nina and Dean, along with Grodsky's elder daughter, Alex, from a previous marriage.
