  • Rishon LeZion plans a new 12,000-seat arena, potentially Israel's largest.
  • The arena will host sports and cultural events, serving local teams.
  • Mayor Raz Kinastlich initiated the project, currently seeking building permits.
  • Construction is estimated to take three years after permit approval.
  • Estimated costs for the new venue are in the hundreds of millions of shekels.

Rishon LeZion, a major city in central Israel, is planning to build a new, state-of-the-art basketball arena that could become one of the largest and most innovative in the country. The current arena, Beit Maccabi, seats only 2,500 spectators. The proposed new venue, initiated by Mayor Raz Kinastlich, is intended for both sports and cultural events and is slated to accommodate 12,000 seats. It is planned for the eastern part of the city, near a future metro line and a depot complex.

The project is currently in the building permit phase. If approved, construction is expected to take approximately three years. The arena will primarily serve Rishon LeZion's local teams and cultural events, not teams from outside the city. Upon completion, it would surpass the current largest arenas in Israel, including the Jerusalem Arena (11,000 seats) and Menora Mivtachim Arena (10,300 seats).

The project's funding will come from the municipality, with estimated construction costs in the hundreds of millions of shekels. The plans and renderings are already complete, pending the issuance of the building permit.
