MK Gilad Kariv believes United Torah Judaism will not join a potential government led by Gadi Eisenkot, despite ongoing political negotiations. Kariv stated that the issue of military conscription will remain a key factor in these talks. He suggested that if leaders like Avigdor Lieberman and Naftali Bennett can secure both the Haredi party's support and a viable solution for conscription, then joining the government might be possible.

  • MK Gilad Kariv doubts United Torah Judaism will join a government led by Gadi Eisenkot.
  • Kariv stated the issue of military conscription will remain central to political negotiations.
  • He suggested Lieberman and Bennett could bring United Torah Judaism into a government.
  • A "reasonable and worthy solution" to conscription would be required for their entry.
  • Kariv's comments reflect internal tensions within the bloc seeking to replace Netanyahu.

Member of Knesset Gilad Kariv of the Democrats party expressed skepticism on Thursday regarding the potential inclusion of the United Torah Judaism party in a government led by Gadi Eisenkot. Speaking on Radio A-Shams, Kariv stated he does not believe the Haredi party will ultimately join such a government, though he acknowledged that the issue of military conscription will remain a central point in political negotiations.

"I think United Torah Judaism will not join our government in the end, and I think we cannot completely discard the issue of conscription," Kariv said. He indicated openness to the possibility if other political leaders, specifically mentioning Yisrael Beiteinu chairman Avigdor Lieberman and Yamina chairman Naftali Bennett, could successfully persuade United Torah Judaism to join while also presenting a "reasonable and worthy solution" to the conscription dilemma.

Kariv's remarks highlight the internal tension within the bloc aiming to replace Prime Minister Netanyahu. This tension stems from the need to secure Haredi support for government formation, balanced against the imperative not to compromise on the conscription issue, which was a major point of contention with the outgoing government.
