The State Prosecutor's Office has filed an indictment against Ali Masswada, 28, for the intentional murder of his wife, Yunit Masswada, under aggravating circumstances. The indictment alleges that Masswada murdered his wife in their Haifa apartment on the night of September 24-25, while their infant son was present in the home. The couple's relationship had been strained, partly due to tension between Yunit and Masswada's family. Following their son's birth, Masswada began suspecting his wife of infidelity and planning to leave him, which allegedly led to the murder.
According to the indictment, Masswada attacked his wife, stabbed her in the neck with a kitchen knife, causing massive bleeding. He then allegedly took her to the shower to wash off blood from both of them in an attempt to conceal evidence. Afterward, he carried her out of the apartment and called the police emergency hotline.
Responding officers found Yunit in the stairwell without a pulse and began resuscitation efforts, which Masswada also joined. Their infant son remained in his crib inside the apartment throughout the incident. Yunit was transported to Rambam Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. In addition to murder, Masswada is charged with obstruction of justice. The prosecution argued in their arrest request that Masswada acted with cold-bloodedness after the murder and provided only partial, biased information to the emergency services, indicating a danger of further obstruction.
