The Otzma Yehudit (Jewish Power) party officially recommended on Thursday that President Yitzhak Herzog task Member of Knesset Benjamin Netanyahu with forming the next government. During consultations at the President's Residence, party representatives, including Ministers Yitzhak Wasserlauf and Amichai Eliyahu, and Members of Knesset Limor Son Har Melech and Yitzhak Kroizer, raised allegations of election integrity violations. Wasserlauf stated, "Elections were stolen here, amounting to about NIS 100 million that went to voters; this is an earthquake." Son Har Melech urged the President to investigate, citing public distrust in the results, especially in light of statements from the Shin Bet chief, David Zinani. She implored Herzog to "act to uncover the truth."
Wasserlauf also demanded that any candidate recommended for government formation explicitly declare Hamas a terrorist organization. MK Kroizer highlighted celebrations in some Arab cities following the election results, noting the singing of the Palestinian Liberation Organization anthem instead of Israel's "Hatikva," which he said "tells the whole story of the election."
President Herzog suggested that Arab voter turnout might have been influenced by Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir's policies. Kroizer countered that this was a testament to Ben-Gvir's effectiveness in enforcing the law, which he claimed had been neglected for forty years. Herzog, however, expressed support for Ben-Gvir's actions in prisons housing terrorists, calling them "important" and "long overdue."
In response to the discussions, Minister Ben-Gvir declared, "I am proud to be the only one that supporters of terror fear!" He vowed to continue making life hell for terrorists in prisons, demolish illegal homes, and fight terror uncompromisingly.
Earlier, Shas, Religious Zionism, and Otzma Yehudit had recommended Netanyahu. United Torah Judaism stated it would not recommend any candidate, following instructions from senior rabbis. Yisrael Beiteinu had recommended Gadi Eisenkot the previous day.
